Love Pottery Barn, but don’t think you can afford it? That’s what I thought until I found out about these money-saving tips. I love the quality of their items; they are built to last; knowing that I’m willing to spend more for them, but still need to make choices that are wallet-friendly.  Covid hit everyone hard so in 2021 we are all trying to make our dollars stretch a little farther.

When my husband and I moved to North Carolina 8 years ago, we sought the help of Pottery Barn design specialists to help us fill up the rooms of our new home. We purchased Pottery Barn bedding, blankets, pillows, coffee tables, rugs, a desk, lighting, outdoor furniture, lanterns, Christmas and seasonal items, candles and more! (not all at once though) Then it happened..sticker shock! It hit us up hard until we learned these money savings tips on our quest to decorate and furnish our southern home, and I’m happy to share them with you. We saved a bundle, like literally thousands, and it is SO worth the little bit of effort it takes to make these savings possible.

I’ve got 25 ways to save money that will have you celebrating! You may want to take some notes..

Purchasing our Torrey All Weather Wicker Wing Back Chairs and Roll Arm Couch at the end of the season sale saved us hundreds!
  1. Whether or not you are new to the area or simply refinishing or upgrading a room in your home, you may qualify for the new homeowner’s discount. This may vary from store to store, but our Pottery Barn offered us an additional 10% off as new homeowners. This discount applied to us for 6 months as we were purchasing furniture and other goods to furnish our new home. Ask your store manager if they offer this program in your area and if they do not if they would consider it. A kind suggestion goes a long way in developing a lasting relationship with both parties benefitting. Let them know what you are looking to purchase over the coming months and how much of that would be through Pottery Barn. Managers have more leeway with making decisions like this and it would be beneficial to their stores’ bottom line sales as well.
  1. I’ve always found the staff to be super helpful at Pottery Barn. Their knowledge is not only product-based, but they are also aware of upcoming sale dates and marketing cycles and future promotions. Ask and they will let you know when an item you are interested in goes on sale.
  1. Be sure to check their Sale and Clearance section on their website. Here you will find a great selection of items that may not be what you had originally planned on, but still be a great piece for the area. How many times have we looked at something we thought we wanted only to be shown a different option and like that one better? Or perhaps the item you want may be on special offering you additional discounts. Pottery Barn typically offers 40% or more off furniture and 60% or more off rugs. Be sure to watch for their BOGO sales as well. Buy One, Get One sales are truly magical.
  1. We took advantage of the design services offered free of charge at Pottery Barn and benefited greatly from them. These specialists REALLY know their stuff! From current trends to what is on it’s way out Pottery Barn designers are trained at color coordinating as well as suggesting complimenting pieces that will give the room the look and feel you desire.
  1. Did you know that Pottery Barn has outlet stores? Yes, they do, and there are ahhmazing discounts to be had on the same quality items you find in their retail stores. There are currently 19 outlets in the US. Simply complete an online search to see if there is a location near you for deep discounts for cost effective savings.
  1. Sign up for Pottery Barn emails to be notified of upcoming sales, doing so will save you an additional 15%. This fabulous penny pinching coupon can be used on sale items as well. Can you say discounts upon discounts? It’s lovely when they rack up the savings that way!
  1. Take note of special offerings like free shipping or BOGO deals. You will also find BOGO deals at their outlet stores as well. Buy One, Get One at Outlet prices? Now that’s a win win!
  1. Lowest prices of the season and end of the season sales are the best times to purchase the items you are looking for. Be sure to use the additional means mentioned above to save even more on your entire purchase. Always ask the sales associate for any further discounts that could be applied to your purchase today, or if they are aware of that item going on sale soon. If no coupons are available today, perhaps if the item is going to be on sale later in the week the associate can put a “HOLD” on the item for you and reserve it until you are able to come back and purchase it at the sale price.
  1. When you apply for a Pottery Barn credit card you’ll get 10% back on sales, be alerted of new markdowns and new arrivals as well as being able to receive special financing on purchases over $750. With savings this big and the perks, it just makes sense to open a Pottery Barn credit card.
  1. Do you love furnishing and decorating your home? If so, you can apply to become an affiliate for Pottery Barn. Visit the Pottery Barn website homepage and scroll down to the About Us section and click on Influencers. Simply fill out the application from there. It’s as simple as that and that can lead to further savings on the items you want.
  1. Another affiliate program you could use is LTK or LikeToKnow.it (formerly RewardStyle) They offer between 4.9 – 7.0% commission on any sales (including your own) This is an excellent way to rack up additional savings. We got $25 back on our table and $35 back on each chair we ordered. In addition to using coupons, paying with a Pottery Barn credit card, and getting free shipping..all those dollars add up to big savings! We used the LTK savings to purchase pillows and other decorative items to compliment our furnishings.
  1. Have a few extra hours in your week? You already love their products, why not consider becoming a part-time associate to earn up to 40% discount as an employee?  The majority of stores are hiring right now and who doesn’t want or need a few extra dollars in their pocket at the end of the month?
  1. Pick up items in store for hundreds off. Don’t believe me? My husband and I picked up the Torrey All-Weather Wicker Wingback Lounge Chair, originally $999 for $250 at the end of season sale! Our local store only had one; they called another store in the area and they had the exact same model on clearance as well!  BOOM, we had our set of chairs for our front patio for $500 instead of $2000!! The store associates were thrilled to help and made this great savings possible.
  1. Similar to Macy’s and other retail stores, Pottery Barn indicates a final sale with price tags with prices ending in 97 or 99. Note though that special and clearance items whether they end in 97 or 99 may be FINAL sale which means you will NOT be able to return them. It’s always best practice to ask the sales associate what the return policy is BEFORE they ring up your items. Final sales are another excellent way to be frugal and still head home with your incredible Pottery Barn find!
  1. Unless it is during a change of season, almost every store puts their newest ie NOT on sale items in the front of the store. My husband and I always look for the sale items first and then use our other discounts to purchase the items we want. We then keep our eyes out for the newer items we liked and watch for them to go on sale.
